01 — SIGHTS & STORIES

Sights & Stories

A private walking tour through Colmar’s historic heart, where the city’s history, culture and iconic sights meet personal stories from my own life growing up here.

02 — THE TOUR

More than a walking tour

You’ll discover the Colmar everyone comes to see: Little Venice, the old town, the colourful houses, the canals and the city’s most iconic landmarks.

But this isn’t just a traditional tour.
I also share the Colmar I grew up in.

Family stories, old photographs, childhood memories, local traditions, the places my family knew, the shops that have disappeared, and the little details that don’t often make it into a guidebook.

I weave the history of the city with my own family history, bringing the past to life through stories that are personal, sometimes funny, and always connected to the place around us.

What makes this tour different?

The stories

My family, my childhood, old photographs and memories of growing up in the heart of Colmar.

The details

The little things you might otherwise walk straight past, the best croissants in town, the best places to shop.

The experience

A conversation rather than a lecture. A chance to see Colmar through the eyes of someone who has known it all her life.

03 — THE ROUTE

The sights you’ve seen, and the stories you haven’t

We visit the iconic sights of Colmar’s historic centre, from the Koïfhus to the colourful façades of the old town. Along the way you will hear the stories behind them: who lived here, what these walls have witnessed, and how Alsace became a crossroads of French and German culture.

WHAT WE MAY SEE ALONG THE WAY

La Petite Venise — and the real story behind those perfect postcard shots

The most unusual houses in Colmar — including Maison Pfister and Maison des Têtes

Where I played as a kid — hidden corners and alleys full of childhood memories

My grandparents’ Colmar — what it was like to live in Colmar as a French-German family through the wars

Hidden symbols — old carvings, crests, faces and dates with meanings only locals notice

Snack stops — and optional tastings of kougelhopf, pretzels, or a little local wine

A few fun words in Alsatian — yes, it’s still spoken (a little!)

Alsace’s in-between identity — why we’re a little French, a little German, and entirely ourselves

Then & now — how Colmar has changed over the past 40 years through my photos and stories

Where not to eat — and where to go instead (I’ll help you avoid tourist traps)

Local tips — I’ll help you book a table, ask for directions, or even buy wine
